Sometimes we go on autopilot. Sometimes this is necessary or helpful, and sometimes it keeps us stuck in old ways.
I have realized even more in the last few years, just how precious and wildly wonderful each day is. Or at least each day can be. There is beauty to notice, wonderful things to accomplish, relationships to strengthen and build.
There is so much for us to give to each day and get from each day. Even more so if we don’t go on autopilot.
As I’ve shifted my life to be more intentional, I have found more joy and productivity and rest in my days. As I’ve coached my clients to consider shifting their lives as well, they’ve told me how much more fulfilled and calm and accomplished they feel.
It can almost be shocking at first, that something as simple (and complex) as being more intentional can offer so many benefits. That starting each day, or each moment, or each task, or each conversation (you get the idea) with at least a quick thought as to “why” – what do I want to give to this? what do I want to get from this? why am I doing this? – can yield such gifts.
There are habits that are useful, necessary, and powerful, but when we pause to at least be intentional about whether or not we want to act out of habit, we break our ruts and open ourselves to greater possibilities.
