“It’s time to start living the life you’ve imagined.”
~Henry James
Like so many people, I tested positive for COVID a few weeks ago and spent nearly ten days locked alone in a room. (Well, once a day I was allowed out to sit outside in the sun or slowly walk around the block…)
Perhaps needless to say, it gave me plenty of time to think. Plenty of time to binge-watch a few shows on Netflix and Hulu, but also plenty of time to think.
One of the thoughts that kept crossing my mind was how incredibly fortunate I am in so many ways. I love the work we do here at Chatsworth Consulting Group. I love partnering with and supporting our clients, and since to the moon and back: a childhood under the influence was published in 2018, so much of the work I get to do – with individual clients and organizations – is on a deeper, more systemic level than I ever thought was possible. By finally sharing my personal story and even more of my authentic self, I’m even more able to help change lives and make a difference.
Another thought that kept crossing my mind was how I want to do even more. The life I imagined includes helping clients get even more out of their own way, so that they can live the life they’ve imagined. So that they can be the leaders – and people – that they’ve imagined themselves to be.
Because it’s time.
Nothing like spending ten days alone, not even allowed to hug your kiddies who have come home for the holidays, to make one decide to be even more intentional. I am a hugger, and giving that up for over a week helps me know that I intend to hug more going forward. To connect with others more. To appreciate others more.
To appreciate all that’s right around me and to work harder to change those things that are so not right. To care for myself. To care for others. To care for the world.
Now is the time – as this year unfolds – to live even more of the life I’ve imagined and to support/push my clients to do the same. To be the people – and leaders – they want to be.
Now is the time.
What have you done to live the life you’ve imagined? What will you do?
